Who are we?
Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom is a non-partisan group advocating for your right to choose or refuse any medical treatment or procedure. OAMF is comprised of ordinary people who have come together with one goal in mind. That goal is the preservation of freedom, more specifically medical freedom.
OAMF is a diverse group of people with professions including doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, and other healthcare providers. We all share the same concern and have learned that the only way to stop medical mandates and the infringement on medical rights is to organize and push back against bad legislation and policies. We base our strategies in fact and truth and present that information to the public and legislators. It is important that factual information is presented, so the opposition (the side willing to sacrifice freedom for personal gain) cannot dispute what we present.
What do we want to accomplish?
Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom is a statewide grassroots organization committed to protecting control over our own bodies. We seek to provide factual and current information that pertains to legislation that either threatens or protects informed consent and the right to have control over our own bodies. We strive to stop any legislation that infringes on those rights, and support legislation that seeks to preserve them.
Why are we doing this?
OAMF members came together because there are numerous legislative bills and policies sweeping across the country, including in Ohio, that seek to either strip Americans of their right to choose medical procedures or mandate medical procedures, e.g., influenza vaccine mandates in the workforce. We want to alert and educate the public on legislation and policies that would prohibit or infringe on an individual’s right to make their own informed medical decisions. It is important that people become aware of these issues because legislation that threatens medical rights is making its way through our government at an alarming rate. We also want to provide support for any individual that would like to further their commitment in fighting for medical freedom. We hope you will join us on our quest in educating others and protecting the fundamental right of medical choice.
The freedom over what is done to your body is the most basic human freedom. More and more this fundamental right is being taken away – by insurance companies, employers, and even lawmakers. Article 6 of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights says:
Any preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical intervention is only to be carried out with the prior, free and informed consent of the person concerned, based on adequate information. The consent should, where appropriate, be express and may be withdrawn by the person concerned at any time and for any reason without disadvantage or prejudice.
How is it going to happen?
The only way we can win is to know how to win and oppose those who would take away our fundamental medical freedom. We will educate and support activists on how to make Ohio a state that champions Medical Freedom and Informed Consent.
By mobilizing voters and volunteers, we let our legislators know how important the right to medical freedom is and we oppose those who would take away that freedom. Growing the Ohio Medical Freedom movement starts with fighting on issues that really matter to connect the law-making season to the voting season.
OAMF will provide action alerts through social and other media to ensure our activists are up-to-date on issues affecting medical freedom.
