House Bill 193 Update And Video

Action Alert!

13 states have some level of protections for employees wanting to decline influenza vaccination. Ohio needs this as well! But Speaker Cliff Rosenberger sent HB 193 back to a second House Committee, saying it hadn’t had enough time, thereby stopping the bill right before employer flu shot mandates kicked in for the year.

Not only that, but he put it in the Health Committee, headed by Rep. Stephen Huffman, a physician who is very connected to some major hospitals and the prime opposition to the bill: the medical lobbies.

And in the Health Committee is where HB 193 has sat since mid-September. We have worked to get meetings with every member of that committee. They all know why HB 193 is so important. They know that pregnant women are being denied exemptions, that employees who’ve gotten exemptions based on medical contraindications and religious convictions in the past are being turned down, and that employees have literally died over this issue!

We can wait no longer. Call Speaker Rosenberger and Rep. Huffman and demand that they hear HB 193 in the Health Committee! Be polite but firm. Lives and livelihoods are on the line.

Emails won’t move this bill, so please call, visit if you can, and write letters to take up space in their offices. If we are going to get HB 193 passed, we have to get it moved now!
